About the Business

The building itself is around 100 years old and is known to regulars and residents as ' The Lorelei'. During the 1st World War, the building was originally two separate buildings, with one half believed to be used as a hospice for the injured and dying soldiers. Many years later, during the 60's, the two buildings were bought by a man named Ted James, an ex pilot who decided to name the pub after the rock headland on the River Rhine, where he first met his German wife. Legends say that a maiden named 'the Lorelei' lives on the rock and lures fishermen to their death with her song!

It is now owned by Andy and Sue Flook and has been for the past 12 years with no brewery influence. They have transformed the old derelict building into a well-established business. Less than a minute's walk from the seafront, the town centre and the Grand Pavilion makes it the perfect location; whether for a holiday, work related or even just a short break.
