About the Business
Situated only 6 miles from Belfast City Centre, The Ivanhoe Hotel in the suburban and residential area of Carryduff, began its existence back in the 1800s as a Spirit Grocers, known as The Halfway House - a well-known stopping-off point for travellers on their way from Belfast to Saintfield. The Inn was the first bar to allow women to drink unaccompanied by men!
Unusually the Ivanhoe has only ever had two owners - the Mallon Family who then sold to the present owners - the Maguire Family in 1980. Needless to say, many changes have taken place in the intervening years and the old inn has been transformed into a thoroughly modern hotel to meet the demands of today's discerning guests with free Wi-fi throughout and every modern comfort in its stylish bedrooms.
However the Ivanhoe still manages to retain the homely ambience of an individual family-run hotel with many original features retained.
