About the Business
The original inn was, apparently, built into the walls of the C12th Orford Castle but is now separated from it by a little lane.
Co-owned by Ruth Watson, David Watson and Tim Sunderland, the Crown and Castle has 21 bedrooms and a lively bistro, the Trinity, which serves decent, unpretentious food. Although we are officially classed as a hotel, we tend to think of ourselves more as a restaurant with rooms, our public space being very limited. Our desire is to offer thoughtful, unstuffy service and to provide a truly relaxing, unstressed atmosphere. As such we do not take group bookings and are not suitable for guests attending local weddings. We do, however, take a limited number of dogs in five designated garden rooms and children over 8 years old are welcome to stay, too. The Crown and Castle is open all year round for accommodation, lunch and dinner.
